Ethics for the EHS Professional
September 18, 2025
5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Ethics for the EHS Professional Sandusky, OH
Have you ever been in a position where you’ve been asked to take a course of action that just doesn’t feel right? What if the ‘right thing to do’ isn’t the best thing for your company, or for you personally? Luckily we’ve been provided with guidelines to fall back on – even when it hurts. And the guidelines are not voluntary!
ASSP calls it the ‘Code of Conduct’. Violation of the Code results in disciplinary action up to expulsion. BCSP, IHMM and BGC (formerly ABIH) call it the ‘Code of Ethics’, and violation can result in revocation of certification. Every professional EHS certification has a requirement for Ethics education during each cycle.
Attend our September 18 chapter meeting to join in the discussion of Ethics for the EHS Professional. Pat McCon will lead the conversation and share the ethics requirements that we have all pledged to uphold. You can review the requirements at: BCSP Recertification Guide; CIH Handbook – Board for Global EHS Credentialing; Recertification Handbook – IHMM.
Attendance at this session will be documented to use as one of the hours toward your certification renewal. (Not a certification holder? Your employer likely has a Code of Ethics too!)
